Privacy Policy

Introduction

Welcome to the Privacy Policy for the Habit Jars app.

This page explains how information is handled when you use the App. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you should not use Habit Jars.

This application is published and operated by Florent PERILLAT-BOTTONET, a French sole proprietor (micro-entrepreneur) registered in France under SIREN 879 769 578 (hereafter referred to as "the Publisher").

Your Habit Data

The content you create in the App is private.

It is stored on your Apple devices and, when you are signed in to iCloud, synchronized through your personal iCloud account. The Publisher does not have access to it.

This includes, but is not limited to:

• Jars you create (name, color, display order)
• Marbles you add to jars (count and timestamps)
• Streak settings and reminder times
• Profile name and profile photo (optional)
• App preferences

This content remains under the protection of Apple's security and privacy systems. The Publisher cannot read your marbles, timestamps, profile or photos. Only the limited, anonymous usage information described in the next section is shared with the Publisher, and you can turn it off at any time.

Anonymous Usage Information

To see which features matter and where the App can be improved, the App may share information about how it is used with the Publisher. This information is stored on servers controlled by the Publisher and hosted in the European Union. No third-party analytics or advertising service is used.

What is shared. General information about how the App is used, such as which features are opened and how often; a periodic summary of your setup (for example the number of jars and marbles, and which options are enabled); basic technical details (app version, iOS version, device model, language and region); and the country of your App Store account, as reported by Apple.

Jar names. The names you give your jars (for example "Gym" or "Read") may also be shared so the Publisher can learn which kinds of habits people track. They are stored on their own, without the identifier described below and without any device details, so they cannot be connected to you or to your other data. Please avoid putting personal information in a jar name if you would rather it not be shared.

What is not shared. Your name, email address, Apple ID, iCloud account, phone number, location, contacts, photos, profile name or profile photo, or any advertising or device identifier. The App never asks for permission to track you.

The identifier. Usage information is grouped under a random identifier generated on your device when the App is first launched. It is stored only on that device, is not synced to iCloud, and is not derived from anything that identifies you. It lets the Publisher count how many people use the App without knowing who they are. Because it is a persistent identifier, this information is treated as pseudonymous personal data under the GDPR and is processed on the basis of the Publisher's legitimate interest in understanding and improving the App (Article 6(1)(f)).

Your choice. You can turn this off at any time in the App under Settings → Privacy → "Share Anonymous Usage Data". Turning it off deletes the information associated with your device's identifier from the Publisher's servers and removes the identifier from your device. Turning it back on creates a new, unrelated identifier.

How Long We Keep Data

These periods apply to all users, wherever you live.

• Usage information and install activity: kept for up to 25 months, then deleted.
• Diagnostic and error records: kept for up to 90 days.
• Names of jars you delete: removed within 30 days.
• Purchase records received from RevenueCat: kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires (generally up to 7 years in Japan) and deleted 7 years after the transaction date. After that, only anonymous monthly revenue totals, with no user, install or transaction identifier, are kept.

Before raw data is deleted, the Publisher may combine it into aggregate statistics (for example, daily totals) that contain no install identifier and cannot be linked back to you. These aggregate statistics may be kept indefinitely.

If you ask the Publisher to delete your data, the request will be handled within one month, except for records the Publisher is legally required to keep.

Photos

If you choose to add a profile photo, you select the image yourself through the system photo picker. The App receives only the image you selected and does not access the rest of your photo library.

The selected image is stored on your device. Your profile photo may also be stored in your iCloud key-value store (compressed and limited to approximately 900 KB) so it can appear on your other devices. Photos are never uploaded to a server controlled by the Publisher.

Notifications

Habit Jars uses local notifications only, scheduled on your device for the habit reminders you set up. The App does not use push notifications and does not communicate with a remote notification server.

You can grant or revoke notification permission at any time in iOS Settings.

Widget

The Habit Jars widget reads a small snapshot of your jars (name, color, marble count, and display order) from a shared container on your device, so it can render on your Lock Screen or Home Screen. This snapshot stays on your device. No data leaves your device for the widget to function.

In-App Purchases

Habit Jars offers an optional one-time lifetime purchase. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. The Publisher does not receive your payment details.

To manage entitlements (verifying that you have an active purchase, restoring purchases, etc.), the App uses RevenueCat as a purchase-management provider. When you make or restore a purchase, RevenueCat receives a randomly generated App User ID and your App Store transaction receipt. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or other directly identifying information from the App.

RevenueCat informs the Publisher of purchases, renewals and refunds (product, price, currency, App Store country and the random App User ID) so the Publisher can keep accounting records and understand how the App performs. If anonymous usage information is enabled, a purchase may be associated with the identifier described above. Payment details never reach the Publisher.

Technical and Diagnostic Information

If the App encounters an error (for example a failed purchase or a network problem), it may record what went wrong, together with the app version, iOS version and device model, under the identifier described above. These records never include anything you typed or the content you were viewing. They are kept for 90 days and are deleted when you turn anonymous usage information off.

If you have enabled "Share With App Developers" in iOS Settings, Apple may share aggregated and anonymized analytics and crash reports with the Publisher through App Store Connect. This information does not personally identify you and is used solely to improve app stability and address bugs. You can disable this at any time in iOS Settings.

Voluntary Contact Information

If you contact the Publisher directly by email or other means, the Publisher may receive personal information such as your email address and the content of your message.

This information is used solely to respond to your request or provide support and is never shared with third parties.

Unless you request otherwise, the Publisher may contact you in the future regarding updates, new features, or changes to this Privacy Policy.

Access and Control Over Your Information

You may contact the Publisher at any time to:

• Request confirmation of whether personal data about you is held
• Request correction or deletion of any personal data provided voluntarily
• Object to the processing of anonymous usage information, or exercise any other right you have under the GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority.

For anonymous usage information, the fastest way to exercise your rights is the switch in the App under Settings → Privacy. Turning it off deletes the information shared from your device without having to contact anyone. Because the Publisher cannot tell which identifier belongs to which person, the Publisher is generally unable to act on requests about this information made by email, and the switch in the App is the way to delete it.

Data Security

The Publisher takes reasonable measures to protect any information voluntarily provided.

All core app data remains secured by Apple's device-level and iCloud security systems and is not accessible to the Publisher.

Anonymous usage information is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored on servers hosted by Supabase in the European Union. Access is restricted to the Publisher, and the App itself can only add records, never read them back. Supabase acts as a data processor on the Publisher's behalf; its privacy practices are described at supabase.com/privacy.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

The Publisher reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time.

Any changes will be effective upon publication within the App or on the associated website. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
